Well, well, well, what should I say? This is my deviantART gallery set up as a transit map. As the title suggests :XD:

I had wanted to do, and started but wipped, something similar before, using my dA stats for an infographic. 'Cos I like infographics. Some days ago I had the idea to turn it into a transit map. Yesterday I sat down and started.
I started using Vector and Typography and instead of my gallery used the overall galleries… Only soon to notice that I was insane to try and put the whole of dA into a transit map :omg: Let's face it: dA has at about 2000+ galleries and I wanted to stay sane. Or as sane as possible :giggle:
Anyway I soon decided to reduce it to the galleries I have submitted deviations to :) Much more sanity to keep that way :slow:

The lines and connections don't necessarily make sense and there are several "Miscellaneous" stops :la:

Do you like this enough to have your own?


If your answer is "Yes!" here is your chance! You can comission me, to have your own!
I don't mind if you are inspired by this and make your own, but you can save the work for a little money ;)
Even if this is some effort (going thru your gallery and laying out the map; 2 - 3 hours of work alltogether) I will offer this for a very fair price:
15€ or 20$ via paypal. [Sorry, I do not take points.]
If you are interested, send me a note :) I will probably write a journal entry with the same information later today :B
Also there will be a limited amount of comissions I will take, I guess 10 for now, so I can hold the "deadlines". I will have 1,5 weeks of free time from thursday on, so I will probably be quick :P

I enabled critiques cos it's the first time I ever did something like this and I would like to improve flaws or techniques, especially if I will do comissions I want them to be good :)
You can even do a critique where you draw into my image, upload to a image host and link me to them. This will make knowng what you talk about easier :la:

Wow just wow. I love this concept :lol: It's rare I'm tempted to Critique much less twice in one week :P But you have caught my attention so here goes:

First off as a Transit Fan I love the concept of deviantART Transit. It would truly be my favorite Transit Agency :D I also love the concept of this map. It was most clever of you and perhaps one of the best laid out and most well designed Transit Maps I have ever read.

Not only does this show your grasp on things dA but your aptitude for planning things out ^^ You are Truly deserving of your DD and I congratulate you on a ob very well done :-)

Wow, it's such a great idea to display deviantART's galleries as a transit map. I would never have thought of this, but now that I see it, it makes total sense. The galleries and sub galleries of dA really are like different stations on a railway. The further you go away from the deviantART "main station" the more detailed the galleries get.
It's fascinating to see how far spread you map is, I think mine would consist of only one or two lines. :)
One tiny little thing that I think could be improved is the part of the map that isn't the galleries. You named the big body of water "Sea of Scraps" and I think it'd be really cool to have other things like that on your map. What's that forest/park in the northwest? Or the lake in the southeast? Does the river have a name?
Anyway, it's a genius idea and realized very proficiently. The DD was totally deserved!
