The given theme was "Bon Appetit", my given sub-theme "Fruits".
As concept I choose not to simply draw some fruits (which was my back up plan tho), but to take my thoughts a step further.
I was trying to come up with a concept from various mindmaps about fruits I created and the best thing I could come up with was displaying Eve eating from the Tree of Knowledge I am not a biblical person, so I would have not felt good doing that.
The second idea consisted of creating a spin on a well known fairy tale. But here's hoping I make it to the final, so I rather didn't wanna go into the fairytale direction already.
Soooo what I ended up with, is a Pin Up inspired by the fruit plum. Hence the title "Plum Up" Obviously her dress is colored after the peel of the fruit and her hair after the flesh of it. In the background you will find plum blossom. Her dress is supposed to be voluptuous and round like the fruit. Also her hips, hidden under the balloon skirt, are exaggerated. Also cos Pin Ups need hips
It may have ended up being Art Noveau inspired as well, but I love Pin-Up Art way too much to let this chance pass
I hope this is enough fruit concept to go along with the rules And the judges
Hope you like it
References: No "direct" links, I used some pictures of Marilyn Monroe for a pose. Poses are not copyrighted Did some more google research for how curly/wavy hair works. Face completely from scratch. I also looked at a loooooot of awesome painting tutorials on dA. Just a tip and trick here and there. Like adding layers of color set to soft light. But I've been doing that for years anyway
P.S.: I love the fact that the Painting gallery has its own Pin-Up sub-category
Beautiful. I love the colors and the details. the shading and blending is really food too. The number of colors is good as well, The pose is really cute. natural and has attitude!
