Watercolors; 24x32cm

Another painting I did last saturday :)

I've always liked poppies and I know they are hard to do in watercolor, since watercolors tend to be very light and the poppies may end up looking pink, rather than red.
What I did wrong, was adding too much red at the beginning. I would have preferred more orange/yellow tones. Maybe next time.

In order to get the background in, I covered the flowers with Rubbelkrepp (masking fluid) before i started. The sketch had been made with watercolor pencils and I wasn't sure if that would work at all with the Rubbelkrepp. It did :la:

This time I scanned the paintng, it doesn't go to the edges of the canvas, so it was actually possible :)

Beautiful, Anne! I've always loved poppies...remember the fields and fields of them in Germany when I was a little girl...running through them and laying down in the middle of them and looking up at the sky, framed by all this beautiful redness...ahhh, nice memories :D
