Celebrating Diversity #12

Wed Dec 12, 2012, 2:10 PM
This edition of Celebrating Diversity I want to focus on two extremes of art: Extremely detailed and realistic works and minimal and abstract art. Both tendencies or trends have their place and time in art and history and are appreciated by many people. Not always does one person like both, but to me personally, art has always been more about feeling, than about complexity. Something simple can touch me emotionally as well as something blasting with details. Art is just as individual as every human being!
Parrot

Red Riding Hood

No158 My SCARFACE minimal movie poster

Artificial Intelligence
Incense
A Little Bit Of Love

Minimal Wonder Woman

Smooth

2306.2005

3D Street - realism

soft touch

Madame Mulan Revisited

How do you feel about these two extremes?

  • Do you prefer one over the other?
  • Do you think minimal art is easy and can be done by anybody?
  • Does talent to work with lots of details and perfection make you automatically a good artist?
Please discuss! :aww:

"If man is to survive, he will have learned to take a delight in the essential differences between men and between cultures. He will learn that differences in ideas and attitudes are a delight, part of life's exciting variety, not something to fear."
- Gene Roddenberry

I guess looking into art from another perspective is a good thing (Not only beautiful art) but also an art that triggers your brain cells to wonder about :#1:
